What Is A Call Center
What is a Call Center?
What is a call center? According to Wikipedia, "a call center is a centralized office used for the purpose of receiving and transmitting a large volume of requests by telephone". Does that answer the question? It does define it, but like many definitions, it doesn't really give a clear and concise answer. So to put it more simply; a call center is basically a single location where many people make and receive phone calls. Now that the basic definition is out of the way, the next step is to look at the different types of call centers. For the most part all call centers can be broken into 2 categories; outbound and inbound. Although there are centers that receive and make phone calls, the same basics still apply.
First, there is the outbound call center. This kind is generally comprised of collection agencies and telemarketers. Outbound call centers are designed to sell products or services to consumers. Many people find these tactics to be quite aggravating. However, due to the sheer number of operators, these call centers usually generate a large amount of revenue.
On the other side of the spectrum, are inbound call centers, like VoiceNation Live. Unlike the outbound call center, operators who work in an inbound center never place calls to customers; with the exception of delivering messages or transferring calls. They are simply there to answer your phones and either act as your receptionist or your answering service. Major businesses like insurance agencies, law offices and health care facilities utilize inbound call centers to interact with their customers. Many companies find it to be extremely cost effective to hire an answering service to answer their phones. When compared to an onsite receptionist or customer service representative, the answering service usually provides more complete service with a substantially smaller price tag.
There are many call centers located both nationally and globally. Although they may be run slightly different from one another, the basics of what they do are exactly the same. Don't settle for any answering service, choose one professional and courteous operators. Choose VoiceNation Live and choose excellence for your business.
